Lake Mary's Sophie Read Wows Judges at HITS Ocala Winter Circuit

Ocala, FL- March 8- The riders of Over the Hill Farm were incredibly successful yet again this week at the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit. Trained by Bill Schaub, they racked up seven championships and five reserve championships in the fourth week of the circuit.


One of the most consistent winners this season has been Sophie Read, who won the Washington International Horse Show Pony Equitation class for the third week in a row on Pow Wow. Read also won the Open Pony Equitation class on Pow Wow and was Champion in the regular Pony Equitation division on Kiss The Rain.


Schaub’s other pony riders also cleaned up. Lauren Hogan, of Tampa, FL, was amazing this weekend, as she rode her own pony, Heart’s Desire, to champion in the Medium Pony Hunters and to the win in the Pony Hunter Classic. Lauren picked up the ride on her sister Katie’s pony jumpers this weekend, as well.


Katie Hogan also plays volleyball and was away at a tournament, so Lauren piloted Just Have Fun to champion in the Pony Jumpers and second place in the Pony Jumper Classic. She also rode Thunder Jam to reserve champion in the Pony Jumpers and won the Pony Jumper Classic. Hogan was also the winner of the Pony Jumper Style Award and was named Best Child Rider on a pony.


Schaub’s green ponies were in the winner’s circle once again. Grey Goose, ridden by Megan Massaro and owned by Schaub and Avera Ventures, was reserve champion in the Large Green Pony division. Samantha Schaefer piloted Something Blue to the championship in the Medium Green Pony division.


Another consistent winner this season is striking dark bay Role Model. Owner Courtney Rodrigue won the reserve championship in the Children’s Hunters 15-17, while Hunt Tosh rode for tricolors in the Low Hunters and the High Pre-Green Hunters. Tosh also rode Love Letter for Schaub to reserve champion in the Pre-Green Hunters.


Toblerone and owner/rider Lee Cesery picked up the champion in the Adult Amateur Hunters 46 & Over, while Bethany Klein was reserve champion in the Children’s Hunter 14 & Under division on Turning Point.


Caroline Cramer had a victorious weekend in equitation, as she placed first in the State Line Equitation class and second in the Charles Owen Medal class.


The horses and riders of Over the Hill Farm will return to triumph once again in the Ocala Winter Finals of the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit, March 9-13.
